Pauken
Perfection

In 2012, Tim Genis made a decision.....make a set of timpani mallets with:

  • a great balance
  • a beautiful, direct sound, regardless of hardness
  • a pleasing aesthetic

How did he do it?......By taking an old design idea and perfecting it. The secret is simple.....create small batches, and make them by hand, one at a time, cutting no corners. A simple idea, the result.....a mallet that will elevate your standard to a new level.

Enhanced Weight Balancing

"What is it?"

"And how can it help me?" you might be asking yourself.

A stick or mallet's balance is guaged on how it propels down to the playing surface, followed by the quickness and amount of rebound achieved, with a minimum of effort.

The better the throw and rebound that a stick has.....the better the articulation and projection the player will get.

California native Tim Genis is passionate about sound production. Genis was always fiddling with ways the timpani mallet could be improved. From his early days with the Boston Symphony, there was always a piece or a passage that could use a special "something". Genis admits, "I used to take whatever sticks I had, and would inevitably mess em up!" Dissatisfied with the timpani pickins in the stick and mallet department, Tim became a bit of a pauken-snob, but thinks that everyone should have access to the perfect Schlagel, so it’s really more of an egalitarian snobbery.
